Three-Month Bible Reading Notes – Part 13 – John, Section 1

1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
6:46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He Who is from God; He has seen the Father.

Genesis 32:30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Exodus 24 9Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. 11But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.

Exodus 33:11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
Exodus 33:20 But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”

Numbers 12:8 “I speak with [Moses] face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; and he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”
Judges 6:22 Now Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord. So Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord God! For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face.”
Isaiah 6:5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
Psalm 104:2 Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.
1 Timothy 6:16 …Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, Whom no man has seen or can see, to Whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Christ and the Holy Spirit are the manifestations of the Almighty (His hands) on this plane of existence so His holiness doesn’t destroy us. The Son, the Word that created, works on us from the outside in to reset His design. The Spirit of the Most High goes from the inside out, starting within the heart, to cleanse us and help keep us on the narrow path. Amen.

1:51 And He said to [Nathanael], “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

Genesis 28:12 Then [Jacob] dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Acts 7:56 …and [Stephen] said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
Matthew 16:19 “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 18:18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
John 20:23 “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

2:3-8 This exchange between Yahshua and His mother tickles me. Mary knew her Son very well. “Whatever He tells you, do it.” Do we?

2:17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”
Psalm 69:9 Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, and the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.
Psalm 119:139 My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your words.
Romans 15:3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”

4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
4:14 “…but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
7:37 “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.”
7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly [heart] will flow rivers of living water. [Isaiah 35:6, Isaiah 44:3, Isaiah 58:11]”

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Psalm 42:1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.
Psalm 81:10 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Psalm 119:131 I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments.
Song of Solomon 4:15You are a garden spring, a well of fresh water, and flowing streams from Lebanon.”
Jeremiah 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
Isaiah 12:3 “With joy you will draw water from the springs of salvation [Yeshua]…”
Isaiah 55:1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.”
Ezekiel 47:9 “And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there [flow]; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.

Chapter 9 5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
Mark 7:33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue.
Mark 8:23 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything.
Matthew 11:5 and Luke 7:22 The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Isaiah 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Isaiah 29:18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
Isaiah 32:3 The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
Jeremiah 1:9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”
Revelation 3:18 “…and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”

The anointing of clay and spit on the blind man’s eyes reminds me we are made of dirt and water. Everything Jesus touched deliberately became charged supernaturally. Sometimes, there are steps we must perform for either healing or any type of cleansing of the flesh.

9:31 “We know that God does not hear sinners.”
Job 35 [Elihu said to Job,] 12“There they cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men. 13Surely God will not listen to empty talk, nor will the Almighty regard it.”
Deuteronomy 1:45 “Then you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.”
1 Samuel 28:6 And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets.
Psalm 18:41 [My enemies] cried out, but there was none to save; even to the Lord, but He did not answer them.
Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.
Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.
Psalm 109:7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty, and let his prayer become sin.
Psalm 145:19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.
Proverbs 10:24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted.
Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 28:9 One who turns away his ear from hearing Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.

9:41 “But now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore, your sin remains.” Once you have the knowledge of the truth, you are responsible for its application in your lives, good or bad.

10:35 “And the scriptures [writings] cannot be broken.”
Matthew 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, and Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Luke 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.
1 Peter 1:25 “But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Psalm 119:89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.
Psalm 119:152 Concerning Your testimonies, I have known of old that You have founded them forever.
Psalm 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

– I like how Jesus just throws random statements out there, out of context, not caring about their comprehension. I can see how people would be annoyed with Him. He did say His words were for those serious about following Him.

11:35 “Jesus wept.”…at their unbelief. He was confident that He would resurrect Lazarus. I wish I had that kind of confidence that the Lord would operate something that major through me. I have had a few things I have pronounced or prayed about come to pass, but minor to the point of being dismissed as coincidence.

12:34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever…”
Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Daniel 7:14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.
Psalm 8:6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet… See 1 Corinthians 15:27, Ephesians 1:22, Hebrews 2:7, Hebrews 2:8.
Psalm 110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not relent, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” See Hebrews 5:6, Hebrews 5:10, Hebrews 6:17, Hebrews 6:20, Hebrews 7:17, Hebrews 7:21, Hebrews 7:24.

…and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”
3:14 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up…”
8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.”
19:37 And again another Scripture says,“They shall look on Him Whom they pierced.”

Son of Man = the Almighty in flesh. They didn’t make the connection between

Daniel 7:13 “I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.”
…and…
Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”

…which is why he quoted the first line of Psalm 22: He wanted people to read it!

Psalm 22:16 For dogs have surrounded Me. The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet.
Revelation 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
