Super Quick Bible Study: Spirits Have Assignments

We focus so much on the passages about the heavenly (and earthly) messengers, we forget that there are other beings subject to the Name of All Names, the Authority of All Authorities:

1 Samuel 16:14 After the Spirit of YHWH had departed from Saul, a spirit of distress from YHWH began to torment him.

1 Kings 22:20-22 (ESV) “…and YHWH said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said one thing, and another said another. Then a spirit came forward and stood before YHWH, saying, ‘I will entice him.’ And YHWH said to him, ‘By what means?’ And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And He said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’”

Judges 9:23 Yah sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem and caused them to treat Abimelech deceitfully…

Isaiah 19:14 YHWH has poured into her a spirit of confusion. Egypt has been led astray in all she does, as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear [cowardness, timidity], but of power, love, and self-control.

Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of YHWH will rest on Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of YHWH.

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

1 Corinthians 2:12 We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

Every positive and negative emotion (or action) can come from things outside of ourselves. These beings (including what we call demons) can only influence us, if we allow them to. This is why seeking His face daily is vitally important. Why would Yah allow for such a thing?

Isaiah 45:7 I form light and create darkness; I bring prosperity and create calamity. I, YHWH, do all these things.

Isaiah 42:16 I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not forsake them.

Lamentations 3:38 Do not both adversity and good come from the mouth of the Most High?

Because of the corruption in the world and the flesh, YHWH uses everything, even our good and bad choices, to get His will done. Remember, this Earth is our crucible of refinement. He is not going to trust anyone with spiritual power and authority (ruling with Christ) without testing and cleansing. We must experience the bad in order to desire, appreciate, and encourage the good.

Revelation 3:21 To the one who is victorious, I will grant the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

1 Corinthians 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?

2 Timothy 2:12 …if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us.
