Super Quick Bible Study: Hezekiah’s Prayer

2 Kings 19 (BSB) and Isaiah 37:14-20

14So Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of YHWH and spread it out before YHWH. 15And Hezekiah prayed before YHWH:

“O YHWH, Elohe of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim; You alone are Elohim over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth. 16Incline Your ear, O YHWH, and hear; open Your eyes, O YHWH, and see. Listen to the words that Sennacherib has sent to defy the living Elohim.

17Truly, O YHWH, the kings of Assyria have laid waste these nations and their lands. 18They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.

19And now, O YHWH Elohinu, please save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O YHWH, are Elohim.”

Praise and acknowledge the Lord.
Present the issue before Him.
Recognize His authority.
Make your request.
End with praise.

Give Him praise, honoring His nature and authority before, during, and after your petition to Him. Why? To access the Highway of Holiness since we are part of His new Temple, to put aside the tangible to enter in the intangible. The adversary doesn’t like when we do this.

Ephesians 2
1And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

Where do our words go? In the air!

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

We must blaze a path to Yah and protect it. Our praise and repentance are the greatest weapons we have.

James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

This is the platform from which we prostrate ourselves before Him, do battle with the adversary, and how we begin to lay up our treasures in His realm.
