Super Quick Bible Study: Choices, Not “Free Will”

I hate the term “free will.” It implies humans are completely separate from Our Creator (all existence comes from Him, is still tied to Him, and will return to Him, all praise to His Holy Name) and sounds passive, as if accepting Christ and being good little boys and girls are all we must do. If that were the case, the Bible would be a fraction of its size. A more precise, active phrase – “If we love the Father, Our King, we have choices to make.” Even after answering His call, our souls make decisions every single day concerning our walk with Him. Does the soul choose the spirit or the beast? Remember, Eve (the soul of man), who was still considered Adam (mankind), chose the beast (the flesh of man) over the words of life (the Spirit).

Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Every choice is an action, whether in thought or deed.

Love is a choice.
Trust is a choice.
Service is a choice.
Rebellion is a choice.
Seeking Him is a choice.
Your relationship with Him is a choice.
Recognizing His supernatural work is a choice.
Embracing His judgment (correction) is a choice.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve YHWH, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve YHWH.”

1 Kings 18:21 Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If YHWH is Elohim follow Him. But if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people did not answer a word.

Micah 4:5 Though each of the peoples may walk in the name of his god, yet we will walk in the name of YHWH our Elohim forever and ever.

Amen.
