– “…like a woman in travail…” is used a lot. I assumed the ancients believed this was the worse pain ever.
– 2:6 “For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled with eastern ways; They are soothsayers like the Philistines, And they are pleased with the children of foreigners.” Philistia was southwest of Judah, so the eastern part did not make sense. I had to look this one up and the translations vary. The best word-for-word translation is “For You have abandoned Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with ancient ways; they are soothsayers like the Philistines; they strike [shake] hands with the children of foreigners.”
– 3:4 “I will give children to be their princes, And babes [the unstable] shall rule over them.” and 3:12 “As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” Remember, back then, as soon as a girl got her period, she could be married off. That type, I believe, is what Isaiah meant, in context with the rest of the verses. 2 Timothy 3:6 “For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts…”
– 3:5 “The people will be oppressed, Every one by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder, And the base toward the honorable.”
Luke 12:53 “Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Micah 7:6 “For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.”
Matthew 10:21 and Mark 13:12 “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.”

– 5:20 “Woe to those who call good, evil, and evil, good.” OK, that is where that is. “Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness.”
Luke 11:34-35 “The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.”
Matthew 6:22-23 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

We are tools in His hands, whether good or evil. Choose His Way and relish His work in you, through you, around you, and through others. We believers get the privilege to recognize His work and celebrate it.
– Isaiah 11 covers Jesus’ first coming as the suffering Servant and his second advent as the conquering King with elements of His future reign.
– 13:10 “For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.” Also see Isaiah 34:4, Joel 2:31, Zephaniah 1:15, Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24, Acts 2:20, Revelation 6:12, Revelation 6:13, Revelation 8:12.
– 14:12 The term “Lucifer” in some Bibles is a bad translation, thanks to Jerome. It should be “Shining One” helel (הֵילֵל), which is derived from halal (הָלַל) – to shine.
– 17:1 “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.” People into prophecy are watching both Israel and Damascus.
– Isaiah 20 is the one of the symbolic “one-act plays” the Lord had some of His prophets perform. This one had Isaiah walking around naked and barefoot for three years. Poor guy… The lesson I get out of these is to be flexible in regards to the Lord’s Will and Purpose in our lives. I know that first hand.
– A whole bunch of countries got judgment proclaimed against them.
– 21:9 “Babylon is fallen, is fallen! And all the carved images of her gods He has broken to the ground.”
Revelation 14:8 Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
Revelation 18:2 And he cried out in a mighty voice: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a lair for demons and a haunt for every unclean spirit, every unclean bird, and every detestable beast.”
– 22:12-13 “And in that day the Lord God of hosts called for weeping and for mourning, for baldness and for girding with sackcloth.” The shaving or cutting of hair was a sign of mourning, humility and starting over, also signaling the end of the Nazarite vow.

– 44:28 “Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure.’” Cyrus wasn’t even born yet! Also see 45:1-3.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.”
We are tools in His hands, whether good or evil. Choose His Way and relish His work in you, through you, around you, and through others. We believers get the privilege to recognize His work and celebrate it.
– Isaiah 11 covers Jesus’ first coming as the suffering Servant and his second advent as the conquering King with elements of His future reign.
– 13:10 “For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.” Also see Isaiah 34:4, Joel 2:31, Zephaniah 1:15, Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24, Acts 2:20, Revelation 6:12, Revelation 6:13, Revelation 8:12.
– 14:12 The term “Lucifer” in some Bibles is a bad translation, thanks to Jerome. It should be “Shining One” helel (הֵילֵל), which is derived from halal (הָלַל) – to shine.
– 17:1 “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.” People into prophecy are watching both Israel and Damascus.
– Isaiah 20 is the one of the symbolic “one-act plays” the Lord had some of His prophets perform. This one had Isaiah walking around naked and barefoot for three years. Poor guy… The lesson I get out of these is to be flexible in regards to the Lord’s Will and Purpose in our lives. I know that first hand.
– A whole bunch of countries got judgment proclaimed against them.
– 21:9 “Babylon is fallen, is fallen! And all the carved images of her gods He has broken to the ground.”
Revelation 14:8 Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
Revelation 18:2 And he cried out in a mighty voice: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a lair for demons and a haunt for every unclean spirit, every unclean bird, and every detestable beast.”
– 22:12-13 “And in that day the Lord God of hosts called for weeping and for mourning, for baldness and for girding with sackcloth.” The shaving or cutting of hair was a sign of mourning, humility and starting over, also signaling the end of the Nazarite vow.
“But instead, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating meat and drinking wine, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!’”
56:12 “Come,” one says, “I will bring wine, and we will fill ourselves with intoxicating drink; tomorrow will be as today, and much more abundant.”
1 Corinthians 15:32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!” Simply put, “We’re doomed anyways, let’s party!”
– 23:18 “[Tyre’s] gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.” Once again, the wealth of the unrighteous will be given to His people.
– 24:2 “And it shall be:
As with the people, so with the priest;
As with the servant, so with his master;
As with the maid, so with her mistress;
As with the buyer, so with the seller;
As with the lender, so with the borrower;
As with the creditor, so with the debtor.”
In other words, everybody is going to suffer.
– 24:5 “The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.” Daniel 7:25 “He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time.”

Matthew 26:26, Mark 14:22, Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:24 “This is My body [His Word, His Instructions].”
– 28:16-22 The cornerstone passage describes Jesus’ ministry and the results. For example, verse 19 describes the disciples in hiding. Verse 20, the disciples are not at peace (not comfortable, cannot rest). Verse 21, His resurrection.
– 28:23-29 is comparing learning from the Lord to cultivating black cumin.
– 29:9 “Blind yourselves and be blind!”
Matthew 15:14 “Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” Also see Luke 6:39 and John 9:39.
Matthew 23:16 and Matthew 23:24 “Woe to you blind guides!”
– 29:13 “And their fear [reverence] toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.” This part of the famous passage gets overlooked. Simply put, the true fear of God has been watered down by man-made ideas, and Judah worshiped Him and other gods, trying to hedge their bets (gaining the most favor from the spirit realm).
– 29:18-19 “In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. The humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.
” Matthew 11:5 “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Literally and spiritually, amen.

– 31:1 “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!” Those who trust in the world or society (Egypt), the created things (horses), man-made objects (chariots), and men themselves (horsemen) will be disappointed at these items failures.
– 32:3 “The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.” Those who are paying attention, will stay that way as long as they read His Word and seek the Spirit Most High. Also see 29:18, 35:5, and 42:16.
Matthew 24:4 and Mark 13:5 “Take heed [see that] that no one deceives you.” In modern-day vernacular, “Pay attention, so no one distracts you.” Influence + distraction = deception.
– 32:10 “You will be troubled, you complacent [comfortable] women.” Revelation 3:16 “So then, because you are lukewarm [comfortable], and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
– 33:2 “Be their [our] arm [protection] every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.”
Psalm 91:7 “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.”
Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

– 34:16 “Search from the book of the LORD, and read…” 30:8 “Now go, write it before them on a tablet, And note it on a scroll, That it may be for time to come, Forever and ever…”
Jeremiah 30:2 “Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.’”
Habakkuk 2:2 “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.” So let it be written; so let it be done! Blessed be the Name of the Lord, for whatever proceeds from His Mouth will be fulfilled.
– 39:7 and 2 Kings 20:18 “And they shall take away some of your sons who will descend from you, whom you will beget; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” Daniel 1:3 “Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles…” Yes, Daniel and his friend were made eunuchs in order to serve the King of Babylon.
– 40:4 “Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth.” Luke 3:5 “Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth.”
– 41:14 “Fear not, you worm Jacob…” LOL!
– 42:1-4 Jesus’ sacrifice benefits the Gentiles.
– 42:16 “I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them.”
Luke 1:79 “To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Luke 3:5 “Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth.”
Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
– 43:24 “You have bought Me no sweet cane with money, nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices; but you have burdened Me with your sins, you have wearied Me with your iniquities.” He gave them grace through their lack of honoring Him, but their sins—rebelling against Him with false worship of other gods—are an irritant to Him. What do we do when we have an irritant on our skin? Try to get rid of it!

– 44:13-20 – A dude chops down a tree. With half, he makes an idol for worship. With the other half, he burns it for warmth and cooking. What good is that idol? LOL!
– 44:25 “Who frustrates the signs of the babblers and drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolishness.” LOL! That is why we should not mess with fortune tellers, palm readers, crystals, etc.
– 44:28 “Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure.’” Cyrus wasn’t even born yet! Also see 45:1-3.
Jeremiah 27:6 “…Nebuchadnezzar… My servant…”
Proverbs 16:4 “The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.”
Romans 9:22 “What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction…” Anyone can be used of Yah; we believers get the privilege of recognizing His work to praise it.
