These are the notes from a Bible study where you read from Genesis to Revelation straight through on a 50-day schedule.
Genesis
– The guy with multiple wives killed a young man for hurting him, saying since Cain was avenged (protected), then he was, too, by killing in self-defense.
– Yah Himself ushered 7 pairs of clean animals into the Ark and 1 pair of the unclean ones.
– The dove returned with an olive branch in her beak. This reminds me of the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus and the covenant of Israel.
– Some of the clean animals were used for Noah’s sacrifice.
– Nimrod built Nineveh.
– Abram (great father) is 10 generations from Shem (name, reputation).
– Both Shem and Noah were alive when Abram was born.
– “…the sin of the Amorites is not yet fulfilled.” This could be seen either as Yah’s mercy on the Amoritres or predestination. I see it as the Amorites’ sin and lack of repentance (refusing to be clean; worship Yah alone) gave Yah the right to kick them off the land. Israel got the same treatment later with multiple warning (judgment is correction).
– Abraham laughed inside himself, as did Sarah (she got called on it) when Yah announced they would have a son. Yah decided to name the baby “laughing,” telling them (and us) sarcastically, “I heard that.” LOL!
Exodus
– water to blood reminds me of Yahshua turning water into wine
– locusts blown away into the Red Sea reminds me of Yahshua casting the demons into pigs and the pigs running off a cliff into the sea
– How does the Father mark us in comparison to nonbelievers?
– Father gave the Israelites favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so the Egyptians allowed the Israelites to plunder them. Proverbs 13:22 A good person leaves an inheritance [provision, righteousness] to his grandchildren, and the wealth of a sinner is stored up for the righteous.
– Our Lord is a consuming fire.
Leviticus
– Did David do the sin offering of the leader?
– You shall not eat blood. The life is in the blood. The blood is for the atonement (covering) of sin. This is what Christ did for us.
– You shall not uncover the nakedness of a sister to rival your wife.
– Do not be a stumbling block to the blind. What were they doing to the blind?
– I just realized that Leviticus repeat itself.
– Sabbath is really important. Yahshua will straighten that day out.
– Land, not walled cities, were important to Yah for inheritances.
– The land vomited out the heathens who went against Yah’s will, so the land was free to become a possession of the Israelites.
– The rules concerning slavery apply spiritually to nonbelievers whom the Lord uses in favor or as punishment for His children. Nebuchadnezzar My servant.
– set loose wild beasts which will rob you of your children (2 Kings 2:23-24, 2 Chronicles 36:16)
Numbers
– standard – banner or flag – war/defensive formation around the Tabernacle.
– anyone not of the family of Levi could be killed trying to the Levites’ jobs.
– The Levites were given to the Aaronic priesthood to serve the priest as the priests served the Lord.
– Instead of the firstborn males being designated to the Lord (a kingdom of priests), the Lord took all of Levi instead. Was it because of their zeal to serve the Lord?
– the law of jealousy kept an idiot husband from outright killing her, made him look like a fool if nothing bad happened to her after that ritual.
– Phineas defiled himself in his zeal for the Lord; the men of war who spared the Midianite women and male children were ordered to kill them and wash everything and stay outside the camp 7 days.
Deuteronomy
– The sun, moon, and stars are given to the nations to worship?
– They were to whitewash large stones and write the laws upon them.
– I am thankful we are under a better covenant.
– Wormwood? Like in Revelation? A massive bitterness in the spirit of mankind?
– Hidden (secret) things belong to the Lord, but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
– the words are in your heart and your mouth to do them.
– Is He not your father?
– Rejoice oh Gentiles with His people Deuteronomy 32:43, Romans 15:10
– Joshua got the gift of wisdom because Moses laid his hands on him as the Lord instructed.
– You will reap what you did not plant, live in houses you did not build, drink from wells you did not dig (Proverbs 13:22).
Joshua
– Ruben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manessah got their rest (land) for their families and would help their brethren get theirs before they could enjoy it.
– Rehab’s action reminds me of Tamar’s behavior towards Judah.
Judges
– Gideon screwed up with accursed objects after the victory and created another enemy for Israel (Abimelech – the title of the Philistine king).
– Olive, fig, grapevine, bramble
– Samson’s father did not trust his wife’s tale. I can see why Jesus revealed Himself to women first. He was the Angel of the Lord “I am.”
– God used Samson’s sins to judge the Philistines.
– Deborah served as a judge longer than most.
– Samson knew where his strength came from.
– Samson broke Torah by burning wheat fields.
– Phineas was high priest during the siege of Benjamites.
I Samuel
– God appointed judges; Samuel was not supposed to appoint his sons, who were wicked like Eli’s sons.
– Samuel either did not know, forgot, or ignored the Torah portion about the future king (Genesis 17:6, Genesis 17:16, Genesis 35:11, Deuteronomy 17:14-20).
– Saul had the Spirit of the Lord upon him to inspire a righteous anger to save Gibeon.
– Ichabod’s nephew, Ahijah, was wearing an ephod, meaning he served as a priest.
– Saul saying “…the Lord YOUR God,” sounds like an insult.
– David started playing for and found favor with Saul before David slew Goliath. David became his armor bearer.
– Was Jesse an Ephraimite or an Ephrathite? Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem) – the English translation can go either way.
– David’s brothers were jealous of his favor with the king.
– 1 Samuel 19, God used Saul’s anointing against him to distract him and his servant so David could escape.
– I loved the way Saul called Johnathan a traitor.
– Saul was insane with moments of sanity.
– Nabal was Caleb’s descendant.
– Did Abigail curse her husband Nabal?
– Johnathan was still under an oath and had to die by Saul’s declaration.
– The medium at Endor slaughtered a fattened calf and kneaded, baked Saul unleavened bread – that is something symbolic here. May the Lord reveal it by His timing.
– Two times David spoke to the Lord through the ephod, the priestly apron.
– David’s kindness to the ill Egyptian slave helped save their families.
– David forced the men to return the tired ones’ belongings since they guarded the area.
II Samuel
– Bragging about something you did not do can get you killed.
– The Lord commanded judges over the house of Israel.
– The Lord will chasten the future king with the “rod” of foreigners (war), but keep the bloodline going, unlike Saul’s.
– David’s throne will be established forever.
– David’s physical conquests remind me of the Great Commission of Yahshua, and when He becomes King of the Earth in Revelation.
– David’s behavior towards women symbolizes believers abusing the Lord’s redemption and His grace over their lives.
– The first baby boy from Bathsheba paid the price for David’s sin.
– The woman Joab used to change David’s mind concerning Absolom declared David’s wisdom came from the Angel of the Lord. So did Mephibosheth.
– Absolom had his servants set Joab’s field on fire (against Torah) to get his attention concerning David.
– the priests took the Ark of the Covenant when David was on the run; David told them and the priests who are prophets to go back.
– David was inspired by Yah to number the people, but 1 Chronicles 21:1 says that it was Satan. The answer is in Job and 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12.
I Kings
– Solomon fulfilled the prophecy against the house of Eli serving before the Lord.
– Only the two tablets of stone were in the Ark when they moved it to the new Temple.
– Solomon’s prayer of the Temple’s dedication, when he said “…then hear in heaven…” and asked something from the Lord, reminds me of Jesus saying, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
– Solomon, ”…for there is no one who does not sin.” “…that He will never leave us and nor forsake us…”
– King Hiram did not like the cities in Galilee Solomon had given him.
– Jereboam got what God said and still disobeyed.
– The man of God who came from Judah also disobeyed and was killed by a lion, but the donkey survived. Woe to those who become prophets? That story always puzzled me.
– The children and grandchildren of Northern Israel’s kings paid the price of their sins.
– Omri bought a hill called Samaria, named after the previous owner, Shemer, for 2 talents.
– God said, “I have commanded a widow to feed you [Elijah].” Guided her?
– When the widow’s son had died, she declared, “Why have you come, o man of God? Are you here to bring my sin to remembrance?” A prophet was not seen as a good sign, but judgment or condemnation. Woe to those who wish to be a prophet. I want to be a prophet to do an end-around on man-made restriction upon me in these denominations.
– Even Elijah accused God of killing her son. Jesus turned that around by saying, “This is for the glory of the Lord.” The widow, upon receiving her living child again, said, I know by this you are truely a man of God and every word you say is true.”
– The Angel of the Lord said, “Eat and drink, for the journey is too great for you.” Father Yah knows our condition. We can ask him how we are to take care of ourselves.
-The second time someone got killed by a lion for not obeying the word of God. The prophets were so weird back then, lots of dark humor.
– Elijah’s plan to turn Northern Israel back to God failed.
– Ahab complained about the prophet Micaiah prophesying against him, like it was the prophet’s fault bad things have happened to Ahab and not the correction of the Lord.
– A prophet smacked Micaiah saying, “When has the word of the Lord gone from me to you?”
– Dogs licked up Ahab’s blood while it was being washed off his chariot. Why mention the harlots bathing nearby?
II Kings
– Elijah dressed like John the Baptist.
– Elijah called fire from heaven 3X.
– The captain of the third fifty humbled himself for his sake and the lives of his 50 men, “Let my life and the lives of these men be precious in your sight.”
– The sons of the prophets bowed down and said, “The spirit of Elijah rests upon Elisha.”
– Northern Israel, Southern Judah, and Edom came together to fight Moab.
– Jehoshaphat always inquired of the Lord through a prophet, although he did it late one time.
– Elisha said, “Bring me a musician. When then musician played, Elisha prophesied. The Lord was having a ball operating through his prophets, LOL! I want to experience some of that!
– Moab said, “The water is blood. Surely the kings have struck one another.” Was that common back then?
– The king of Moab offered his firstborn son as a sacrifice on the wall. It turned back the 3 kings’ armies. How much more did Christ’s sacrifice do?
– Yah can close off information to His prophets for a purpose, to make Elisha revive her son.
– I did a write-up on the dirt Namaam took. Namaan’s asking for a pardon for false worship reminds me of Daniel and his friends in the school of the Babylonian wise men.
– Elisha, through the Lord, spared the Syrian army from Northern Israel’s wrath, had the army fed, and sent back home. Bless your enemies.
– The Father confused the Syrian army and they ran, leaving behind their camp intact. A bunch of lepers found it. The dude who insulted Elisha was trampled. LOL!
– God set it up to help the woman with the resurrected son again.
– Hezekiah pointed out how the defeated kingdoms threw away their idols because they were not real.
– Sennacherib ran to Ninevah, his sons killed him, one reigned over Assyria, was this the king Jonah spoke to? Did the Assyrians know about what the Lord did for Hezekiah and Southern Judah? Is this why they repented at Jonah’s word from the Lord?
– Hezekiah, first king of Judah after Israel’s destruction during his reign.
– Hezekiah’s extended life spawned Manasseh.
– The sun going backwards as a sign to Hezekiah.
– Joash and Josiah are similar.
– Nehusta, Jehoiachin’s mother, her name reminds me of the bronze snake Moses had made and Hezekiah destroyed because the people worship it (Nehushtan).
I Chronicles
– Edom had a king before Israel.
– More genealogies of kings and priests, naming mighty men
– Shimri, although not the firstborn, but his father made him first.
– Satan urged David to number the people
– David saw the angel of death with a sword; once David obeyed and set up the altar at a threshing floor, the angel put his sword away.
II Chronicles
– Jereboam rejected the official priests of the Lord and appointed his own for the high place, the demons, and the calves.
– Asa imprisoned the seer who told Asa he would have war because he relied on a foreigner king and not God.
– Jehoshaphat and Ahab in thrones on a threshing floor?
– I wonder, how do these stories of the kings who were righteous apply to us today? Are we missing something?
– Jehoram killed his six brothers, who were better than him, according to the prophet.
– Jehoram married to Ahab’s daughter, Athaliah (the only female king, 6 years), and his mother was also a daughter of Ahab?
– Edom revolted against Southern Judah’s rule–prophecy fulfilled.
– Jehoram was not buried with the kings (his fathers).
– Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of the priest Jehoiada, was Ahaziah’s sister. The priests did marry women from Judah’s line and vise versa.
– Jehoiada lived 130 years; Joash went bad afterwards.
– Jehoiada’s son, a priest named Zechariah, prophesied against Joash; Joash had him killed.
– Joash not buried with his fathers.
– Uzziah was buried in the field of the kings because he was a leper.
– Ahaz was a piece of work and was buried in the field not the tomb.
– The war was also about whose god was better.
– Hezekiah ordered the priests to sanctify themselves and cleanse the Temple, 8 days to clean, 16th day, the repairs were complete.
– The Levites had to help skin the sacrifices because there were too few priests and other priests weren’t purified yet. The Levites were more diligent in purifying themselves than the priests.
– Hezekiah prayed for the unclean people who ate the Passover lamb; God heard him and healed them. Healed them from what?
– Travelers from Northern Israel participated.
– God paid attention when a king humbled himself for the Lord’s sake.
– I get tired of “Is it not written in such-and-such book?”
– the land is a she; she enjoyed her shabbot of 70 years.
Ezra
– Both believers and unbelievers can be provoked by God depending on the person’s mentality. Cyrus had the idea of the conquered people to keep their cultures to help control them better.
– Ezra and Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem with Zarubbabel in the first wave.
– Artaxerxes sent a letter response which caused the stopping of the rebuilding of the Temple.
– Ezra’s bloodline back to Zadok and Aaron.
– Artaxerxes now supported the rebuilding of the Temple, thanks to Cyrus’ letter someone found and to avoid curses. Was this after Esther’s revelation of Haman’s plot against the Jews?
– Ezra called a fast to humble themselves to seek after the Lord for protection against any enemies for their trip to Jerusalem with children, using possessions.
– Ezra’s prayer of regret and hope.
– The men put away the pagan wives and children.
Nehemiah
– Nehemiah’s prayer of confession and remembrance of Yah’s covenant.
– Nehemiah recognized God’s work in his life and testified about it to others.
– When Ezra opened the book of the Lord, all the people stood up – the Jews still do that today.
– They hadn’t celebrated Succoth since the days of Joshua.
– Ezra’s sermon of generational sin and repentance.
– Nehemiah’s prayer of frustration
Esther
– Vashti is an Indian female name.
– Our Father, the King of All, has a vicious sense of humor with the situation of Haman being forced to honor Mordecai.
– Some became Jews for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
Job
– The first friend saw or felt a spirit, it said, “Can a man be more righteous than God? More pure than his Maker? He charges His angels with error.”
– Though He slay me, I will trust Him.
– Let me know my transgression and sin. Job 13:23
– Job’s friends are irritating. “Miserable comforters are you.”
– I wish my words were recorded and inscribed in a book.
– I know my redeemer lives.
– Job’s friends are idealistic in their view of God and mankind, but Job sees the reality about the wicked.
– If I have made gold my hope…my confidence…this also would be an iniquity deserving of judgment, for I would have denied God who is above.
– Who has given wisdom to the mind, understanding to the heart?
Psalms
– “Be angry and sin not.” Also Ephesians 4:26 and James 1:20 – for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
– “Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.” Matthew 7:23, Luke 13:27
– His eyelids test the souls of men.
– “To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. …there is none who does good, no not one.” Romans 3:10
– “Into Your hands, I commit my spirit.” Luke 23:46
– “But the meek shall inherit the earth…” Matthew 5:5
– He will be our guide, even to death.

– “Though 1000 may fall at your left hand, and 10,000 at your right…” reminds me of the song the women sang about Saul and David.
– “You will tread the serpent underfoot.” Genesis 3
– A people, yet to be created, will worship/serve the Lord.
– Psalm 104, a brief reference to the waters of the flood, the waters not destroying the world again.
– I hate the word manifold in some translations. Multifaceted would be more accurate.
– Psalm 105, ”Make known His deeds among the people.” Testimony!
– What Phineas did was accounted to him for righteousness, the shalom (wholeness, completeness, balance) of God.
– They kept finding psalm of David, 101, 103, 108-110, 122, 124, 131, 133, 138-145.
– No more cursing, thank the Father.
– Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power.
– A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
Proverbs
– Proverbs 13:11 “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.” and Proverbs 20:21 “An inheritance gained hastily in the beginning will not be blessed in the end.” Both remind me of the parable of the prodigal son.
– Proverbs 25:6-7 “Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, And do not stand in the place of the great; For it is better that he say to you, “Come up here,” Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom your eyes have seen.” is similar to Luke 14:7-11.
– Paul quoted, in Romans 12:20, Proverbs 25:21-22 “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the LORD will reward you.” Also done in 2 Kings 6:22, 2 Chronicles 28:15.
– “The grave and destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.” The flesh is never satisfied.
Ecclesiastes
– “Better not to vow, than to vow and not pay.” Jesus said something similar in Matthew 5:33-37.
– “Naked he came from his mother’s womb, naked he will return.” Job 2.
– “All the labor is for a man’s mouth, yet the soul (the appetite) is never satisfied.”
– “I said of laughter, ‘It is folly,’ and of pleasure, ‘What does it accomplish?’”
“Sorrow is better than laughter, For by a sad countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, But the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”
– Wisdom gives knowledge to those who have it.
– My favorite verse: Ecclesiastes 7:10 – Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these? For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.”
– In the day of prosperity be joyful, But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other, So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.
Song of Solomon
– Sounds like a play listening to it.
Isaiah
– Wars of the idols and gods.
– Fiery, flying serpent.
– On their heads will be baldness – symbolic of having no control over a situation.
– His life will be burdensome to him – the word suicide popped into my head, which was not uncommon in the Biblical narrative and that time period. The Eastern concept of an honorable death.
– “Oil the shields.”
– “Forests of Arabia” threw my husband off a bit while listening in.
– “Babylon is fallen, is fallen.” Revelation 14, 18
– “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
– “I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.” Matthew 16:19, Revelation
– “…a tried stone, a precious cornerstone…”
– …the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction… “This is the way. Walk in it.”
– The highway of holiness…even if the fool should walk on it, shall not go astray.
– The prayer of Hezekiah is in II Kings 20 in response to the same situation.

– The worship of manmade items still goes on today.

– Israel, My elect
– Every knee shall bow; every tongue shall take an oath. “Surely in the Lord, I have righteousness and strength. Men shall come and all will be ashamed.
– Because Babylon did more than what was required of God to punish Israel and its sorcery, it will suffer destruction, too.
– Israel used the nickname Yah. I don’t know if anyone else in Scripture used that name. I like to say Father Yah.
– Prophecies about the Gentiles are numerous in this book. It deserves a reread and investigation at a future date.
– “Go out from her, you vessels of the Lord.” Sounds like Revelation
– He shall sprinkle many nations.
Jeremiah
– Isaiah and Jeremiah had their lips touched.
– …to a stone, you gave birth to me. LOL!
– Your sword has devoured your prophets like a roaring lion. Jesus said the same thing.
– The Word of God called food and no more Ark of the Covenant.
– You shall call me My Father.
– I will sent for many fishermen, for they will bring them back.
– There is a shift in how the prophets operated, no grandiose supernatural acts. Visions, dreams, “one-act plays,” and words from the Lord.
– All the Lord wanted them to do was keep the Shabbot, which, in turn, will inspire them to do more of what the Father wanted.
– …weep for he will not see his native country anymore. Daniel.
– the prophets of Jerusalem accused of being adulterers, physically or spiritually?
– …Nebuchadnezzar, my servant…
– The battle of the prophets
– Daniel learned about Jeremiah’s letter from Nebuchadnezzar.
– Why did they inquire of Jeremiah if they never did what the Lord gave the prophet to say?
– The Lord woke up His prophets early to proclaim His Word?
– Death assignments
– appeals to the Queen of Heaven, these people are lost and don’t realize they polluted the land.
– A sacrifice comes at the river Euphrates?
– the end of Jeremiah has additional writing out of chronological order with the rest of the book.
– God speaks of His control of the foreign nations, that they will be expelled like Israel and Judah, then returned later.
– “I [the Lord] will plead your case.” To whom?
– “I will punish Bel in Babylon.” War of the gods vs. the God.
Ezekiel
– The multi-winged creatures Isaiah saw saying “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty,” Ezekiel also saw them transporting the King of Kings’ throne.
– “Eat this scroll.” Sweet to his mouth, but bitter in his spirit, like John in Revelation.
– Warn the wicked, or suffer because he was a watchman for the house of Israel.
– We should have our backs to the rising sun.
– Chapter 14 and 16, ugh, feels like an indictment against women’s sexuality.
– “…lifted his eyes to the idols of Israel.” lifted his eyes can mean prayer
– Serve your idols, but don’t pretend to serve Me. Leave Me alone with My true servants. You will be scrubbed out later.
– Children dying in warfare is a mercy, since they will not be contaminated by false worship or sacrificed.
– The so-called wise men said, “Is he speaking in parables?”
– “To look at the liver.” It was to check the condition of an area for farming/hunting, but morphed into an element of false worship.
– “…who commit adultery and/or who shed blood.” shed blood, giving up virginity?
– “Ezekiel shall be a sign to them, doing as he did.” This is still going on today, if one learns to see it.
– Chapter 28, the adversary
– Egypt, the world being judged?
– “Their mouths produce much love, but their actions produce their gain.” Isaiah and Jesus said the same.
– Burn weapons for 7 years, bury bodies for 7 months.
– Isaiah and Ezekiel had the Angel of the Lord measuring a city.
– The future Temple built under Christ’s direction.
– If one believes this Temple vision is of Christ’s future Temple, then the priests of Zadok will be sacrificing again, and worshipers will take home meat pots.
– “…carcasses of their kings on their high places…” God does not want dead people in any worship area.
Daniel
– My church did a sermon series with small groups to reinforce what we have learned. It was called “Thriving in Babylon” and you can find a pdf of the book version online.
– Nebuchadnezzar was brilliant, dramatic, and a whack job, whose power went to his head as it does most humans.

Amos

– desiring the dirt on the head of the poor reminds me of a sermon called, “Men Love Dirt: The Problem with the Prosperity Gospel.
– “The star of your gods which you made for yourselves.” Stephen’s rebuke in Acts 7.

Three-Month Bible Reading Notes – Part 2 – Judges through 2nd Chronicles
I had to change the title of this series. I did not mean to draw anyone looking for the Bible in 90 days website or their affiliates.
Judges
– A small repeat of Joshua – Caleb offering his daughter and her asking for springs (land).
– The Kenites, with whom Moses had dwelt, dwelt with Judah. These are the people Jael, who killed Sisera, came from.
– Judah took Gaza (the Gaza strip today) and its territory.
– They put the Canaanites under tribute, but could not drive them out. I will wager they were inconsistent with seeking after the Lord (sometimes they did, most times not). Are we guilty of this today?
– Isn’t putting people under tribute a type of treaty?
– Dan did not get their land.
– The Angel of the Lord “You failed to tear down these foreign altar as instructed. Therefore, I will nor drive these foreign out and they will be thorns in your sides.” Paul talked about a thorn in his flesh (2 Corinthians 12:7) as well—people under the influence of the adversary. These people would be a snare to Israel. We have to fight the snare all around us daily, but we have help, the Spirit of the Most High Who can tolerate our corrupt flesh.
– The Lord “I will test the children of Israel to see if they keep the way (will) of the Lord their God,” a constant theme throughout Scripture.

1 Samuel
– Elkanan was of Ephraim, not Levi. Therefore Samuel was not a Levite, but served in the Tabernacle.
– Hannah’s humility with Eli reminds me of the Syro-Phoenician woman’s response to Jesus’ mild insult (called her a little dog or puppy).
– Elkanah understood the situation and did not counter her as he could have (Numbers 30), admirable. He had plenty of other children, so Samuel was not his firstborn son.
– Hannah’s prayer/psalm reminds me of Mary’s in Luke.
– Eli knew the Lord, but his sons didn’t. What does it really mean to “know the Lord?”
– Hannah bore 5 more children; 5 is the number of grace.
– “…and the Lord desired to kill them.” LOL! Dark humor in Scripture…
– Eli got judged by “a man of God” first, and then through the child Samuel.
– The city where the Ark was taken to and the Israelites had set up camp was called Ebenezer – stone of help.
– The Ark (God) defeated Dagon (the Philistines’ god) in Dagon’s temple, then the people suffered from a rat infestation and hemorrhoids on their private parts. LOL!
– Samuel marked a victory with a stone he called Ebenezer, saying, “The Lord has helped us so far.”
– Ramah, his home’s location, Samuel built an altar to the Lord. What happened to only sacrificing at the Tabernacle?
– Samuel blessing the sacrifice at the high place? I’m confused.
– Saul anointed king over the Lord’s inheritance—the people called the “upright of God.” Feel kind of distant verses a covenant.
– Saul cut up oxen and sent the pieces all over Israel as a warning. It reminds me of the concubine whose body was cut into 12 pieces and scattered.
– Why did Israel outsource blacksmith/blade sharpening work to their enemies, the Philistines? This is happening today, relying on cheap labor from those who do not have our best interests at heart.
– I love Johnathon.
– Saul “Bring the Ark of the Covenant.” Uh, not a good idea.
– Because the people saved Johnathon, they were cursed with continuous war. Johnathon would fulfill the oath later during battle.
– Don’t make stupid oaths; seek the Lord first and trust His leading.
– Do we take the time to look at someone’s heart. Do we ask the Lord to reveal the person’s heart to us?
– The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, but Saul’s anointing remained.
– Saul’s servants knew it was an evil spirit from the Lord. Does anyone have that type of awareness today?
– How did Saul’s servant know about David? Besides, David was too young for war. I believe that was of God.
– David has two/three jobs – shepherd, armor-bearer of Saul, and musician against an evil spirit.
– Was his brother jealous of David’s favor with Saul? Did David tell him about the lion and bear?
– David received the day-old showbread (12 or less loaves of flatbread) to feed him and his 200 men; the group swelled to 400, and then 600 later.
– Did giving David the showbread cost Ahimelech, the high priest, his life? Was that why his son, Abiathar, betrayed David later? Or, was the betrayal due to sharing the high priestly role with Zadok?
– Saul declared David was delivered into his hand. Nope, just a vessel used by the Lord to refine David.
– David speaking to the Lord by holding a sleeveless linen robe. The ephod had “holiness” residue on it. This demonstrates why the priests had to change out of their priestly garment before leaving the sanctuary of the Lord (Leviticus 6:11), reinforced by Ezekiel 42, 44, and 46.
– David prophesied how Saul (and by default Johnathon) would die.
– Did David know he wasn’t supposed to collect wives? Was there an exception made because they were Israelites? Why not retrieve Michal sooner?
2 Samuel
– Dude died over a lie. Hoping for glory, a reward?
– 24 young men, 12 each for David and Saul (Abner), killed each other at once and they named the place the Hill of the Sharp Swords. Ridiculous…
– Abner killed Joab’s brother; he paid for that later. David cursed Joab’s family as a result.
– People continued to misjudge David, thinking he operated as other men. Two more men, who had killed Saul’s sons, were executed.
– When Uzzah touched the Ark and died, David was mad at first, despaired at how to transfer the Ark, and then feared the Lord (for the first time ever? He had respect/fear of Saul’s anointing, even after Saul’s death). He had gotten too comfortable with the Lord’s presence in his life.
– “If [your son] commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rods of men and with the blows of the sons of men.” Is this true today?
– David humbled himself and Israel on their behalf before the Lord.
– David did not inquire of the Lord about avoiding going to battle with his men.
– David announced fasted for the living, not the dead, is proper.
– David handled the rape badly. I assume he didn’t want to kill his son?
– Absalom broke Torah by setting Joab’s field on fire.
– (David said “Remember…”) People still gave credit to a woman throwing a millstone on Abimelek to kill him.
– Absalom had 3 sons and a daughter, Tamar, after he had set up a monument declaring he had no sons to carry on his name.
– Joab had no heart, no chill about him.
– After Absalom’s defeat until his full reinstatement as king, David was called “the king” more than any other part of 2 Samuel.
– The Gibeonites were the remnant of Ammon, descendants of Lot.

– Joab, of all people, advised against numbering the people, which was wise, unless God asked for it.
– David “…nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that that costs me nothing.” Ooo… He is right, though. A real sacrifice has to cost us something. For believers, we (ideally) sacrifice our entire being to the Father so the Son and Spirit can operate on and through us to get the Father’s Will and Purpose done.
1 Kings
– Bathsheba and Nathan the Prophet scheming for Solomon (his name means peaceable, wise), fulfilling the prophecy that a man of peace would build the Temple.
– David declared Joab had shed blood in peacetime for he had bound himself with blood on his waist and belt (determined to do so) and his sandals (motions toward doing so). Proverbs 1:16 “For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.” Proverbs 6:18 “A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to evil…” Romans 3:15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood.” Isaiah 59:7 “Their feet run to evil; they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful thoughts; ruin and destruction lie in their wake.”
– At first, David let Shimei live and even defended the Benjamite’s actions. Now, David wants him dead? OK…
– Abiathar exiled, fulfilling the prophecy of Eli’s bloodline removed from the line of the High Priest. Zadok takes over.
– Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada (one of David’s officers), hitman for Solomon.
– He made a treaty with Egypt and married Pharoah’s daughter—two strikes against Torah.
– God to Solomon “…and have not ask for the life of your enemies…” LOL! I don’t know why I find that funny, dark humor?

– What happened to the pot of manna and Aaron’s rod that was in the Ark? Did they disintegrate? Reminds me of the dust in the Ark from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
– Solomon prayed for the Temple to be also for foreigners who worship the One True God, a truly progressive step. I love that.
– Solomon made the foreigners, whom they could not expel from the land, forced slaves.
– 666 talents of gold—that number represents the best man can do.
– Kings paid Solomon for his wisdom/advice.
– He collected horses and chariots, which was against the rules for the king. He was in peacetime so what was the point?
– “Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh…” another requirement broken.
– Solomon was not only collecting women, but cultures and knowledge, instead of developing his own with the Father of All. Therefore, like most, wealth dulled his mind, despite his wisdom. Thankfully, he figured it out before he had died (Ecclesiastes).
– The prophet Ahijah, the Shilonite, tore his new garment into twelve pieces and handed 2 to Jeroboam. Was this the start of the “one-acts plays,” as one theologian put it, to symbolize what would soon take place? I have noticed the Lord tends to make announcements of either His Will or Desire at least twice. In this case, Solomon and Ahijah were the vessels.
– “…the turn of events was from the Lord, that He might fulfill His word…” Sounds similar to Samson’s behavior being used by Yah. How much control does the Father have? As much as we give Him by our behavior, both good and bad.
– “King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was in charge of the revenue; but all Israel stoned him with stones, and he died.” LOL! Poor man…
– Judah and Benjamin actually obeyed the Word of the Lord from a prophet. Amazing…
– Rehoboam, like Aaron wanting to get the people under control, made two golden calves and told the people not to go to Jerusalem, here is your god who led your fathers out of Egypt. *sigh*
– That whole story about the disobedient prophet trips me out. The lesson: Stay on course, and seek God whenever you desire to deviate.
– Jeroboam’s wife receiving prophecy from Alijah reminds me of Saul and his servant going to a medium to talk to Samuel and the actress Joab used to confront David about Absalom, combined.
– “[Rehoboam’s] mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.” His mother was a descendant of Lot and his younger daughter.
– It mentioned Asa’s grandmother instead of his mother. Was she the one who had raised him in the ways of God?
– Jezebel was a Sidonian, and Elijah was sent to a widow in Sidon.
– It amazes me when heathens give respect to God, yet will not serve Him (Namaan being the exception).
– The widow “Are you here to bring my sin to remembrance?” Err, what sin? Was that child of her deceased husband’s?
– Obadiah had the first mentioning of translation travel in reference to Elijah.
– Elijah “How long will you waver between two opinions?” Israel, as usual, was worshiping God and everybody’s else gods, always looking for an advantage, hedging their bets.
– “I have reserved 7000 who have not bowed the knee to Ba’al and every mouth that has not kissed him.” What? Kiss? They kissed statues? Ew…
– They mustered 7000 to go against Ben-Hadad.
– The Ahab, Jehoshaphat, and the prophets section is hilarious.
2 Kings
– Elisha fed 100 people on a small amount of food. “And the Lord said they shall eat and have some left over.” Jesus fed a multitude of 5000 men (not counting women and children) twice, once on the Jewish side and the second in Gentile territory.
– “And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not like his father and mother.” Well, that is a relief, *snort*
– Jezebel’s leftover body parts remind me of the broken head and arms of the Philistines’ Dagon statue (Dagon was a merman, no feet).
– I just now noticed the name of Jezebel’s god (Bel or Ba’al) is in her name.
– All this killing and conspiring makes listening to this tough.
– These stupid high places were working my nerves. Thank God Josiah and Hezekiah wrecked them.
– “You shall not fear other gods.” The war of the gods through people.
– “At least there will be peace in my day.” Hezekiah is like a typical decent human with slip-ups. Nice way to care about your legacy.
– Hillkiah, the high priest, is believed to be Jeremiah’s dad.
– They lost and then found the Book of the Law centuries later? Sad…
1 Chronicles
– 5:20 “And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them, for they cried out to God in the battle. He heeded their prayer, because they put their trust in Him.”
– 7:24 “Now [Ephraim’s] daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah.” A woman had areas built? In that age?
– 9:20 “And Phinehas the son of Eleazar had been the officer over them in time past; the Lord was with him.” Prophetic, no?
– 9:22 “David and Samuel the seer had appointed [the Korahite gatekeepers] to their trusted office.”
– 10:13-14 “So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance. But he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom over to David, the son of Jesse.” Saul did inquire of the Lord, but he did not do it consistently or persistently, which is a requirement of faith.
– “Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the captains, and he said:
‘We are yours, O David;
We are on your side, O son of Jesse!
Peace, peace to you,
And peace to your helpers!
For your God helps you.’
So David received them, and made them captains of the troop.”
This means through the anointing of Christ’s Spirit upon us, we should be able to recognize the Spirit upon others. Why aren’t we?
– Did somebody corrected David on how to move the Ark? God?
– Were the priests reading the Law to the people? I am going to say no.
– David’s psalm in 16 has been used in a lot of songs.
– 16:36b “And all the people said, ‘Amen!’ and praised the Lord.” So that is where that practice came from.
– 2 Samuel 24 said that God moved David to number the people; 1 Chronicles 21:1 said the adversary did.
– Onan the Jebusite was not an Israelite. I saw this as more evidence of Israel sacrificing on behalf of the Gentiles.
– Onan and his sons saw the Angel of the Lord. The sons hid, while Onan kept threshing until David had arrived. LOL!
– “You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.” How important is blood and its shedding, regardless of its container (Israel, Gentiles, or animals).

– 28:10 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” No wonder Solomon asked for wisdom. Seek Him, and you will find Him. His Will becomes Our desire.
2 Chronicles
– Solomon counted the aliens and made half of them burden bearers (and forced laborers). I take it then it was a menial task?
– Why did they name the pillars at the entrance Jachim and Boaz?
– “…from City of David, which is Zion.” Therefore, Zion symbolizes the gov’t, not Jerusalem, the worship center. Notice Jesus never uses the term Zion in the Gospels.
– Solomon’s wife, the Princess of Egypt, was not qualified to live in the City of David. She was decoration.
– “Rehoboam did evil in the sight of the Lord because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.”
– “Is there a prophet of the Lord?” I like Jehoshaphat, despite him dealing with two kings of Northern Israel. Two prophets agreed.
– Jehoshaphat’s prayer, full of praise, pleading, and reasoning with the past promises.
– I love when the Lord uses random people to speak on His behalf, this time a Levite within the assembly.
– Two women, daughters of Lot, conspired to have Joash killed. That is a new one to me.
– Judah and Israel worshiped together under Hezekiah’s rule.
– They did the Passover on the second month because the priests hadn’t cleansed themselves.
– God blessed and healed them because of Hezekiah’s prayer and the people’s submission.
– They gave God presents.
– Should we keep count of the kings who got “lifted up” (prideful)?
– “…and did not heed the words of [Pharaoh] Necho from the mouth of God.” Josiah got puffed up, too. It is like we humans cannot handle having peace.
– I think they burnt up the land, no crop rotation or Sabbaths to revitalize the soil, so the Lord had to get them out of there.
